Creating a Simple Computer Networks (virtual) with Virtual Box

VirtualBox is a virtual machine application that allows you to install the Operating System (OS) other, and run together at the top of its parent operating system. VirtualBox is an open source application output Sun Microsystems (now acquired by Oracle) is targeted for servers, desktop and embedded use.

Besides being used to try other OS applications, virtual box can also be used to create a simple computer network virtualization.

In this article the author will discuss how the steps to make a simple computer network (virtual) with Virtual Box, before doing things, we must first install the virtual box applications, the way it is in this article, (note = I use Mac OS X host, the guest Windows XP and Linux Ubuntu 10.10), then after that we plan for how the network model that we will create, the author will give an example as follows to model the network.

As the host computer is a computer that air-OS MacOS X, then guestnya the operating system Windows XP and Ubuntu 10.10.

Just what we immediately begin the steps to make a simple computer network with the above models.

• Run your application virtualbox

• Choose a setting, then select network, change the options attached to a Bridged Adapter (done in the second guest, XP and Ubuntu)

• Then create a wireless add-hoc on the host computer

• Set the IP numbering as an example in the model image

• Start the guest computer, Windows XP and Ubuntu

• Go to the XP guest, the guest XP IP set by Control Panel -> Network Conncetion -> right click select properties padanetwork currently active -> select TCP / IP

• IP Set XP guest in accordance with the model.

• Check the network connection by opening a Command Prompt, then type ping ip from the host Mac OS. If successful it will display the following message.

• Success! Create a Windows XP, it's time to configure Ubuntu guest.
• Log in to System -> Preferences -> Network Configuration

• Choose wired, then Auto Ethernet, and select the Edit button

• IP Set Ubuntu guest in accordance with the image model.

• Okay, the configuration is complete, it's time to check success or not, to go into terminal, then ping the IP to the host Mac OS or Windows XP ping to the guest.

• Done!, To check the whole network, then we ping from one to another.

So many benefits of virtual box, one tutorial above, namely to build a simple network, instead we bought a PC / laptop is physically just to learn the network, with virtual box we do not spend any money to study a simple network for Virtual Box is also labeled as freeware aka free software.
